Hermes and Telemachus

I think im cooking something

Cause like Hermes making sure Telemachus is okay because Odysseus asked him to keep an eye on him so he goes to see Tele and hes not having the best time. Hes like 16 and going through a bit of crisis because the suiters are just straight up bullying him, his mom can’t look at him anymore because he reminds him to much of Odysseus, literally the only person he has is his dog. So Hermes makes an appearance and tries to cheer him up.

OMG YEEEES! He absolutely adores Telemachus & loves to show up with lil gifts & trinkets for him (probably some candy too) just to see how happy it makes him! I have so many thoughts about their dynamic, it makes me so happy! & Hermes totally delivered letters & presents from Ody to his family while he was away

If Telemachus was still wide awake after Penelope already told him to go to bed, Hermes would show up to read him a bedtime story until he finally got tired. But maybe he had a lil help from Hypnos lol

& when Telemachus was still a kid, he would play games with him & play pretend, basically letting the young prince boss him around & do whatever he wanted. He had to pretend to be a cat for a whole day & let Argos chase him around lmaooo, Telemachus has him wrapped around his finger

Hermes would suggest different games to play so that he wouldn’t have to constantly be bossed around by a child, & it would usually be some kind of make believe or a twist on a classic like hide & seek or tag (like add a storyline or plot to the game so there’s a “reason” to run & hide, like Hermes is pretending to be a monster or something) & whenever he’d catch Telemachus, he’d tickle him, or throw him really high in the air like a sack of potatoes, they both just really enjoyed being silly & roughhousing together

When Telemachus got older, he also got moodier & stopped playing such “childish” games with Hermes, & it actually did make the God a lil bit sad. So he makes sure to stop in every once in a while to remind him of the good times & makes sure he continues to smile, because you’re never to old to laugh with a friend!

I absolutely love them so much, their dynamic is so fun, & I know Hermes would have the biggest soft spot for that kid!

I know I'm a little bit obsessed with eyes and colours, but I was rewatching Ishas memories of their time together with Jinx (as one does 100 times on repeat), and I noticed that

Jinx eyes hop from pink (Violet) to blue in this clip, and then another time in this one

First there is her pink eyed self

And then here's the blue one...

I know it's maybe just play with colours as it jumps from Isha to Jinx and stars and all, but... I was just thinking about how Jinx herself said that she sees Powder in her little friend and we can see that Powder came above the waters when with Isha. They could be playful together and simply happy. And Jinx felt safe and comfortable enough to let Powder out.

a lot of "why are we hating on fernsong he's a good boy :(" energy pops up whenever people start getting more critical or petty about ivyfern but it's like. no i truly get it. he is her personalityless nothingburger heteronormative husband she was unceremoniously slapped together with for next gen kids, and the fandom LOVES him because of one scene that implies the bare minimum of decent fatherhood (not even shown on screen. doesnt come to fruition) that suddenly means their offscreen relationship is queering up gender norms or whatever and the best leap for feminism in the series. if i was an ivypool stan id be bitter about that too wtf

i wanna talk about romantic killer and how impactful anzu is. the narrative has a theme with anzu having more impact than she seems to notice.

Before the show even starts, Anzu's been impactful. It could be blamed on the long-time crush, but Junta's a big case of this. Anzu bluntly told him he'd likely be good at baseball, so he tried it and she was right. One observation led him into a lot of his friends, and possibly his future career, but Anzu's oblivious to it. I think she noticed her impact with Saki, but in anzu's mind, there was nothing else to do. Someone hurt her friend and she was going to stand up for her so Saki wouldn't have to keep dealing with that.

Tsukasa is an interesting case in regard to anzu's impact. It's basically camouflaged until Kishi shows up. Anzu saw him blaming himself, after all, that's what most people did the first time. But anzu hits him with the most amazing line about wishing she could've been there to believe him then. and in the moment before he tells Kishi off, we see how much that impacted him.

the impact to Hijiri is the most obvious. Like we hear from Tsuchiya that Anzu's rejection led him to try seeing from a "commoner's point of view". Which helped him not simply rely on his status and wealth, aka influencing his life for the better. So anzu's far more aware of this, but she seems so shocked about it im more sure she doesn't notice her impact.

and then there's Riri. I think it's kinda a 2-way street, as these two changed each other for the better simultaneously. Anzu by calling out how Riri's lack of understanding humans would only hurt them, and Riri calling out how Anzu only caring about her greatest desires was isolating her(specifically from romance but it was hurting her friendships too). anzu's impact on riri shows more in their actions, like staying in human form more and trying to act like a human would. and those attempts build into them caring about anzu beyond just their job, esp in the last couple of episodes. Riri's barely in potato form and breaks the rules 3 different times for anzu, things the riri from episode 1 would've never done, lest they get a pay cut.

In conclusion, anzu is that friend who apropos nothing says the most insightful thing that will stick with you for years, but totally forgot about it right after.
